From the Desk of the President...

2004...WHAT A YEAR!

Technology is an increasing component to everyday life. It's in your car, on your phone, in your office and can even greet you upon arrival home. Your children are learning it, your clients are demanding it and Genext is making it all work for you!

In this issue, we have outlined some of the successes of 2004 and offer insight on what is to come in 2005. There are projects happening behind the scenes and 2005 is already looking to be yet another record setting year at Genext.

The PERFECT STORM

While this month's newsletter represents months of hard work on the development of Genext Telephone and Video Services, our activities have centered on some incredible opportunities for our community and the telecommunications industry as a whole. In fact, the technologies we are embarking on have the potential to reshape not only the communications industries, but the Electrical, Security and Media Sectors as well.

Genext Principals and Consultants have crossed boarders and are working in concert from Wenatchee to Ontario and Moses Lake to London to bring about unique and powerful technology that will forever change the way we connect to our applications and services.

While we are not at liberty to disclose the workings of our relationships and negotiations at this time, we are, to say the least, excited for what is to come and thankful that we have the resources in NCW to deliver the most advanced technology to your doorstep.

Be sure to watch for notices and special money saving opportunities for existing Genext Customers. We recognize that you, our customers, are Genext's life's blood and driving force for our continued growth and expansion. We sincerely appreciate each and every one of our customers and look forward to expanding to meet your growing technology needs.

QUALITY, INTEGRITY, VALUE

It's a simple recipe for success, however, implementing plans to be the best service provider is not as easy as it may sound. We did it though! Genext has met the mark. Last year, we exceeded our goals and we continue to grow each and every month!

We are grateful for our customers, alliances and partners and look forward to continued success in 2005 and the years that follow.

Respectfully,

Drew Zabrocki
President

TELEPHONE SERVICE READY FOR PRIME TIME

With multiple trials and final selection of the technology, Genext believes that Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is ready for prime time.

VoIP technology has arrived! Driven in large part by Genext's commitment to its customers and quality of service, Genext's VoIP architecture clearly differentiates the company from other VoIP technology offerings currently available in the marketplace.
  • With the support of our customers, Genext will continue to leverage its back-office systems, knowledgable and experienced people and processes for a powerful VoIP market launch.
  • Genext will expand its phone service footprint via VoIP to commercial customers, thereby furthering its leadership position amongst its peers in the commercial telecom marketplace.
  • The regionally distributed architecture allows Genext to introduce phone services to customers in markets where economics do not support the cost of a circuit-switched architecture.
  • Genext has also outlined its strategy for deploying VoIP; highlights its VoIP architecture; examines cost comparisons of VoIP vs. circuit-switched technology and highlights its success as a telecom provider.
WHEN: Genext is presently completing the billing interface and customer support center upgrades and predicts a launch of it's VoIP Telephone Services in June of 2005.

WHERE: Services will be available in the Greater Wenatchee Area and Columbia Basin with subsequent roll-outs in North Idaho, Yakima Valley and Tri-Cities.

HOW MUCH: While final pricing has not yet been established, pricing will be “Very Competitive” and the services will be feature rich, including: Local Number Portability, Voice Mail, *69, Caller-ID and much more!

SIGN-UP: Add your name to the list by emailing broadband@genext.net with your desire to learn more about our offering. We will keep you updated with any advancements as well as ensure that you're one of the first to receive this highly sought-after service.

CONTACT: Tim Gavin, Broadband Support Services or Nate Jennings, General Manager, are ready and eager to answer your questions about Genext's VoIP Services. Scott Daniels, VP Operations, will also be available for media interviews regarding VoIP, and Genext's overall telephone strategy.

GENEXT SUMBITS FRANCHISE APPLICATION WITH CITY OF WENATCHEE

This month, Genext submitted an application with the City of Wenatchee to become a full service Cable Television Franchise. The process of introducing video to the Chelan Fiber Network has been longstanding and is presently within reach. With expectations to launch retail services this summer, Genext is working diligently to ensure that the channel line-up, pay-per-view, digital audio and other service enhancements are ready to hit the ground running.

In addition to regular broadcast programming in a secure and stable high-speed network environment, Genext subscribers will be able to receive various types of digital broadcasts, high-speed Internet service, as well as new combined broadcast/Internet services, telephone service (VoIP), and interactive communications services, such as remote healthcare and interactive security services.

As a private service provider, Genext has negotiated cable TV franchises with the City. The application process included detailed information about the Company, as well as the customary application fee.

In addition, there are two agreements spelling out the relationship between the city of Wenatchee and the Chelan PUD for providing electric, water and telecommunications services, as were discussed with PUD commissioners Monday, January 10th at the PUD Commissioner's Meeting.

The proposed 25-year franchise agreement allowing the PUD to build and maintain electric and water lines in city rights of way updates and improves an agreement first negotiated in 1951, explained Karen Wiggum, PUD staff attorney. The second agreement, also proposed for 25 years, covers the use of PUD lines on city rights of way to deliver wholesale communications services including video from private providers over the PUD's fiber-optic network.

The new franchise agreement requires the PUD to pay the city $7,500 a year, plus a one-time payment of $15,000 to cover administrative costs over the last two years. It also spells out construction standards, security provisions and conditions for relocating PUD lines for a city project. There are no additional fees for the telecommunications agreement.

Wiggum said the PUD is also working on similar agreements with the city of Chelan and would be negotiating with Chelan County, Leavenworth, Entiat and Cashmere in the future.

Thank You For Another Outstanding Year!

GENEXT SUBMITS APPLICATION WITH NCTC

The National Cable Television Cooperative is a not-for-profit, member-operated purchasing organization. The Co-op's mission is to reduce the operating costs of its member cable companies. The Co-op negotiates and administers master affiliation agreements with cable television programming networks, cable hardware and equipment manufacturers and other service providers on behalf of its member companies.

Through joint purchasing and negotiation, the NCTC functions similar to a multi-system operator (MSO), taking advantage of volume discounts offered by programming networks, hardware manufacturers, and other providers. This results in significant cost savings for members on the purchase of these products and services.

In 1984, the Co-op opened its doors with 12 member companies and began helping small- and medium-sized cable operators. Today, the NCTC has more than 1,000 member companies that serve more than 14 million subscribers. The Co-op is proud to say that its members operate more than half the franchised cable systems throughout the United States.

NCTC member companies range in size from fewer than 100 subscribers to more than 1 million. Despite this variety, the Co-op's bylaws allow for "one-class" of member. Regardless of size, every member company has access to the same services and pays the same price for programming and hardware.

Better Communication = Stronger Communities

We believe that communication is the key to family security. We've partnered with agencies to deliver a wealth of information about family communication, gun safety, positive relationship building and guidelines for setting limits with your kids.

Security is personal. It comes from a sense of belonging and from feeling valued by others. A child's first sense of belonging occurs in his or her family, and that's why we believe that when it comes right down to it, security is a family matter.
