WE'RE KICKIN' DOWN MORE DEALS

Our commitment to delivering high quality internet services at an affordable price lives on with our most recent drop in price. No Dial-up isn't free yet, but SuperPipe Wireless customers can now enjoy four times the speed for the same price. Alternatively you can choose to lower you monthly payment and keep the same great service you have today.

This is part of an overall restructuring plan including concessions from both Genext and Northwest Telephone. Our goal is to provide the best service at the best price and as our costs continue to go down so will our prices.

SuperPipe customers should have received a letter from NTI recently. One will be coming from our offices shortly. For more information about the recent price changes and how that will affect your account contact relations@genext.net.

SERVICE YOU CAN RELY ON

Recently we upgraded security services on our main web and email servers. Some of you may have noticed that services were suspended longer than the anticipated two hours. This is because in addition to patching security concerns we also performed a full back up of all user and web data on the server. This is yet another way that Genext insures the integrity of our service and your information on the web.

The back-ups performed during the upgrade are primarily for Genext services and may not include full back-ups of your user or web data. You are strongly encouraged to do so through your user interface.

For Genext Customers who have their email at genext.net go to http://www.genext.net/personal for your account options.

For Genext Web Hosting Customers visit http://www.your_domain.com/siteadmin/ and enter your username and password

Thank you for your business and your continued support of our organization.

Respectfully,

Drew Zabrocki
President

A Family Guide to Internet Content Censoring And Access Control

Parents are in a tough spot these days because of the proliferation of computers throughout the home and 'always on' Internet connections. Back when families had a single computer - probably in the living room - Internet control was easy. Your kids always had someone looking over their shoulder at what they were doing. They stayed clear of the 'bad stuff' because they were being watched.

As parents upgrade to newer models of computers, the old ones end up in the kid's bedroom - out of parental sight. Many of these computers have full-time Internet connections too because of the popularity of broadband modems and Internet connection sharing devices (broadband routers).

Some schools of thought say that children should simply be 'taught' what content to stay away from. Others say that no matter how much teaching you do, they're kids and will look at the stuff anyway. In the end, it is a parent's choice. The level of censorship, blocking and monitoring are family decisions that should be decided and handled in the home - not in the courts. This series of articles will explain the tools available to parents wishing to exercise their right to censor and block what their children have access to on the Internet.

There are four primary categories for Family Internet Control. They are:
  • Physical Monitoring
  • Access Blocking
  • Censorship
    • by Hardware
    • by Software
  • Electronic Monitoring

Planning A Construction Project

The value of security programming and design lies in the protection of people, information, and property. As crime increases, architects are being asked to consider security.

Design without security in mind can lead to litigation, expensive retrofitting with protection equipment, and the need for additional security personnel. If security is not properly planned for and installed, security equipment can undermine key design elements and building functions.

When the developer turns the project over to the new owners, the problems may just begin. The alarm systems and access control systems are more than bells and whistles: they protect people, property, and information.

Architects should prepare themselves for the increasing demand for security design. They must remember that an educated client is their best customer. Clients must realize that security is as important as energy conservation, handicapped access, and fire safety.

How much security is enough? It is sufficient when a balance is reached between the level and type of risk and the cost of minimizing those risks. Security can be designed and programmed in early, or it can be done on a retrofit basis. Read the entire article by Dr. Randall Atlas, AIA, CPP in our BizCenter then contact us for more information.
Security Technology ...

You Can Be In Two Places At Once

Many companies have relied on traditional burglary systems for protection. Small businesses are now adding closed circuit television (CCTV) or video surveillance to supplement their existing security. Video surveillance not only enhances the burglary system, but adds many more advantages such as improving business operations and reducing shrinkage, which can ultimately lead to an increase in net profits.

Not only can RemoteView help small businesses save money, it can also help improve a business owner's quality of life. Many owners believe that their business operates more efficiently when they are present than when they are away. Because of this, they spend most of their time at work. With RemoteView, the owner can monitor operations from a remote location, thereby reducing the amount of time spent at the business.

RemoteView also offers:
  • Camera control that allows you to switch cameras from your computer.
  • The ability to monitor locations in near real time on demand.
  • A deterrent to employee theft, shoplifting and false accident reports.
  • Random monitoring of point-of-sale transactions.
  • Improved business operations by allowing you to observe spike times in business, poor service, or a procedure you need to change.
To learn more about RemoteView, and why it should become a part of your total security solution, read the entire article then, speak with a Genext Representative by calling 884.7791 or toll free 1.866.588.6329.
