WENATCHEE VALLEY COLLEGE SELECTS GENEXT
This month, Genext's Systems Group was awarded yet another high-end communications cabling project at the Community Technology Center. Genext was selected amongst all other bidders because of our ability to deliver more capacity and throughput to the desktop for less money.
The Wenatchee Valley College Telecommunications Center will involve tens-of-thousands of feet of high-performance cable, fiber optic connectivity and facilities for VOIP (voice over internet protocol) and Gigabit Ethernet.

MORE NETWORK ENHANCEMENTS COMMING
When a company continues to grow in triple digits each month, enhancements, expansions and upgrades are inevitable. As part of a Planned Growth Initiative, we will be adding circuits and equipment, as well as a Carrier-Class Network Monitoring and Policy Control System (security servers).
The security servers will be placed ahead of all other devices on the network in order to shape and control the information that flows through our systems. Genext is positioned on 100MB Backbones with multiple upstream connections to the Internet. It is becoming increasingly necessary to control and monitor this tremendous capacity.
Because of the complexity of these security upgrades, you may notice anomalies with particular applications such as: File sharing, VPN, music/video streaming and private server software.
If you are running file sharing software or operate a server on Genext Broadband and you experience issues with your connection:
- First, disable file sharing or streaming services, restart your computer and try again.
- Be sure to scan for viruses or spy-ware as we may disable your connection automatically if it is transmitting un-authorized or malicious data.

EVER-EXPANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE TEAM
As our services expand across the state and our customer base continues to grow, Genext remains focused on Customer Service. It is THE essential component to our success. You'll notice when you call Genext during normal office hours, you almost always get a human on the other end of the phone; a real person who actually knows what they're doing. In the beginning, this was a fairly simple task. However, now, with a customer base quickly approaching five digits, it's become a full time job just managing our Customer Relations Group.
Fear not, though. Genext's commitment to quality customer service will remain un-paralleled by any other local Systems Company or Internet Service Provider. This month, we completed the first phase of our new Staffing Initiative, which includes a detailed Human Resource Plan to add two additional staff members in first quarter of 2004, as well as additional staff for our Systems, Sales, Administration and Support Departments on an on-going, results-driven basis.

WELCOME TIM GAVIN, Technical Service Representative
Tim Gavin of Wenatchee, WA recently accepted an offer to join our Technical Service Group. Technical Services is the “Tech Support” component to our Customer Relations Team. Mr. Gavin moved from Oroville to Wenatchee in the late 90's to further his education and career in IT. Well-informed on most all consumer technology, Tim is adept in solving complex technology issues and is an excellent communicator.
Tim has been working with Genext over the last year and when a Technical Service Position became available, he interviewed for the position. During the interview process, Genext Staff met many talented individuals, some of whom are expected to be hired in the near future to fill positions in our company. Tim however was a perfect fit for our organization. He's familiar with our policies, procedures and protocol and is quickly becoming an invaluable part of the Genext Team.
Mr. Gavin is making progress on an eight to ten month training program where he will draw on his past experience and combine industry-leading certification courses to earn a position in our Networks Group. Networks is the team responsible for the “back-end” of your Internet Connection. They administrate our Wide Area Networks (WANs) and are also the group that will be installing our security server this month (see article above).
We are looking forward to the improved efficiency that an additional Technical Service Representative offers to our customers. You will notice that even throughout our explosive growth, our quality of service endures. Your satisfaction is our commitment. Tim shares this vision of quality, integrity and service and we are proud to welcome him to our team.

QUINCY, WA RATE INCREASE
A reminder to all Genext customers who dial in to our Quincy, WA dial-up numbers: Our service rate will increase slightly to $15.00 per month as result of increased costs in providing the service. We published a mass-notice that was sent out earlier in the month explaining the details of the transaction.
You do not need to change any settings (Quincy Customers), we will make all required modifications to the network and accounting systems for you automatically. (Only those affected were notified.)

POLICY UPDATE
We've clarified Genext Initiated Suspension of services paragraph to describe our pre-cycle suspensions. If a customer has not paid for their Internet Service and we show no payment history on the account, Genext's Billing & Collections Departments may temporarily suspend services in order to invoke communication from our delinquent accounts. This action is not considered disconnection of your service, rather, it is simply an effective way to get a response after several failed attempts.
If your account is temporarily suspended, you are encouraged to contact our office to make prompt payment. If payment is received before the end of the month, there will not be a re-connection fee. If payment is not received, we will disconnect services and a $20.00 re-connection fee will apply.
